Team Fortress Tribute... WIP

I'm making a composition based off of Valve's Team Fortress 2, a classic FPS with some really great character designs. Anyways, here it is so far... with a long road ahead for sure.

The two characters so far are the Blue Scout and the Red Sniper.

Sketch comp - Serious

I skipped a week, cuz last week's was excessively crappy. This past week's assignment was "Serious." Here it is. Top left was a sketch page of the first idea that came to me when I thought of 'serious.' The two sober-looking folks sitting next to each other other at bottom left are Taylor and Nicole, as the three of us were riding the Trax to a Mae concert at the Avalon. Top right would be the friendly yet serious and imposing bouncer man. Bottom right is Dave, the lead singer/guitarist for Mae during the acoustic set after the main show (he's serious about being awesome). Mae is a pretty sweet band, y'all should check them out:  http://www.whatismae.com/

Gesture Drawing- The First Post

Well... this Spring Term I'm in Ryan Woodward's Gesture drawing class, and we're sketch-booking along the theme of "Romance." I'm putting up this crappy compilation to observe my progress over the course of the term, but feel free to comment as you wish. Thanks for coming by!

My Final for Joe's Class

Daxter the Disgruntled Flying Pig Assists Charlie the Chubby Farmer in the Epic Repulsion of Insectoid Alien Invaders, as Ma and Son Observe from Below!

Final Requirements:
Git yer ma, an headta the cellar!(theme is open to interpretation)

[42-15229874.jpg]
-cartoonize the human ref above to come up with your character
-must have anthropomorphic side-kick
-must be an appealing cartoon style (not Arthur or Clifford the Big Stupid Dog)

You can all critique me using these criteria. How'd I do? ... Say.... speaking of which, this farmer guy was the subject for a previous assignment on Human Proportions. The assignment was to rebuild the reference's figure just by using his head measurements. Here's what I got:

I had so much fun in this class, mainly because Joe Olsen is AWesome. Anyone and everyone should take his class, Animation-major or otherwise.

A Woe-bot and a Feh-wog

The top one's a Value assignment for Joe's Class, based on a "Working Class Robot" theme. The bottom one's a frog skeletal study for my 2D Rigging assignment. More to come where that came from.

Some Old Guy

These are a coupla images of what I've been working on lately. You may recognize him as the old bum from a previous storyboarding post... right about HERE. This was while he was in the modeling stage, and so now I've moved on from that to rigging and weight painting and now on to animating.
FUN!

A(nother) Storyboarding Assignment

So I'll give you the intro, then introduce each panel really quick and snappy-like. Hope you all Enjoy!

So there's the White Blood Cells (WBC) and they're in a ferocious battle with the evil Virus monsters.

The hero surveys the bloody battleground...

The hero and buddy engage...

They strike the appendage off, but poor buddy doesn't make it...

Mr. Superior Officer says hero needs to go on a "special assignment", in search of an old war vet that knows the Virus monster's secret weakness.

Hero unsure of what to think...

Hero begins treacherous journey through an infested forest...

The Mini-Virus bugs stalk the hero...

And they Ambush the Hero in the Night!

Overwhelmed, the hero frantically reaches for his weapon, but to no avail. Who is the mysterious hooded figure in the background??

As the hero succumbs to unconciousness, he sees a hooded figure wielding a glowing spear, driving away the Virus bugs...

The hero recovers and continues on his way, leaving the sinister forest behind him...

He continues amidst the dreary mountain tops...

He disturbs a bacteria-chain creature as he passes by a cave...

He tries to find shelter and hide...

To no avail. He is captured and is confronted by the same hooded figure from the forest!

The hero discovers that this is the olde war vet that he originally set out to find! Old War Vet explains his disillusionment and disgust towards war and fighting. Young Blood (*teehee) gives invigorating and enthusiastic speech about his conviction to end the war and honor his fallen buddies/comrades.... bla blabla blah...

Old War Vet (Ol-wa-ve) stews and ponders and wonders and contemplates Young Blood's (Yo-blo's) conviction and enthusiasm, while sitting next to his Pet Bacteria-Chain Creature (PBCC or PeeBee SeeSee).

OlWaVe agrees to go with YoBlo and shares his special technique with YoBlo...

They travel faster by way of PBCC...

They enter battle, both with glowing Weapons of Mass Dismemberment, and soon all WBC's learn the secret technique, and quickly cleave all Virus monsters to pieces.

End!

Thanks everyone for coming to check out me stuff! Be sure to leave your comments!

T-Shirt Re-Designed!

I wasn't very happy with the color scheme from the previous design, and so here's the simplified black and white re-dos. Apparently, the snails won a T-shirt design contest, but who knows what will happen next? Stay tuned for upcoming details...

Joe Olson's Drawing for Animation Midterm

For Joe Olsen's Drawing for Animation midterm, he had us take our old toy design and REdo it, applying all the new knowledge and skills we've learned since then, as well as spicing it up with a new theme. Another aspect of the assignment was documenting our research process, including our "creative" exercises and our "knowledge" based studies. And so here is everything I've got in ALL of its dubious splendor. Oh, and the theme was "Viking Raiders."
