Mino's photo shoot

Some glamor shots of Mino doing some dramatic poses. Posing this guy was pretty fun. These shots are to pad my portfolio blog, which is still under construction. Any ideas of what else he could be doing?

shadowy heads

I'm working on getting a good solid head shape for the background crowd models for our Senior Film project, so these are some of the sketches I've been spitting out. I'm moving towards more simplified shapes and structures, so any advice would be helpful. K THX BYE!

itsaTrunkMonkey!!!

These were for Advanced Storyboarding, the advertising assignment. We were tasked with portraying the "product" as desirable and necessary, in this case the "product" being the monkey stored in the trunk. I used squirrel monkeys as reference (cute!). I borrowed heavily from ADAM FORD's technique, which he does much better than I...

Basically, you start off with your base colors, through on some fleshy tones (he calls it "banding"), and throw on a "key" light (or just the main light source). After which you can add an "ambient" light, a "fill" light, or a "rim" light... I didn't add any of those... Last of all is the "ambient occlusion" pass, where you darken the areas where light is being blocked by things closer to the camera/viewer. Just say "ambient occlusion" when talking about lighting and people will be impressed, mostly because they won't know what you're talking about...

My Demo Reel, from 2009

My reel's actually all my work from the past year, so even though I just made it in 2010, I labelled it 2009. Hopefully this baby'll get me some cool job somewhere... and if it's on the American continent somewhere that would be even sweeter!

Some storyboarding!

Just catching up on some assignments from this past little bit. These were done for Ryan Woodward's Advanced Storyboarding class. Just a little personal experience from my high school rugby days (psst... I/our team wasn't very good, btw).

Butchered Meats: Concept Development

These are some old designs that I submitted for our upcoming senior year student film "Butchered Meats." The two main characters are still being fleshed out, but Paddy "The Butcher" is the bigger looking fellow, and Clarence is the scrawnier one. It's going to have a boxing match in the movie.

woOo! lookie what i found!

I was just doing some cleaning up on my little portable hard-drive and I stumbled across some old photography class assignment stuff that I never posted. So I guess this should tide me over until the new semester starts up, lol. Thanks for coming around and I hope that you all have the very HAPPIEST of holidays!

Bruce Lee vs. Zombies!

My final for Joe Olson's class, horribly late... The theme was "Imminent Defeat"... So here's the story of how Bruce Lee really died... the same way we're all going to die... Zombies. Used Prismacolor markers and Staedtler pigment liners.

3D Minotaur in Action!!

Designed, Modeled, Textured, Rigged, and Animated over the course of a semester. Used Maya, and Photoshop. Supposedly he's chasing a butterfly, but either the butterfly can be seen only by mythical creatures, or is purely a product of an over-active imagination, we will never be sure...

Vimeo is good.

Character Design Final

Snow Balla
Hamstrosity
Hockey Zombie
PLOT SYNOPSIS:

A spunky, Canadian, elementary-school age girl assumes the role of a super-hero when a mysteriously evil team of super-powered, zombie, snowman hockey players begins terrorizing her small, south Albertan town by turning the local populace into mindless, snowman zombies. The only way for the self-christened “Snow Balla” to save her friends and neighbors from the curse of the zombies is to throw “love”-infused snowballs at their frozen hearts (which immobilizes them), and then she must shout “I want to be your friend” (which shatters the enchantment). She is accompanied by a trusty hamster, that when given a special sugar-frosted food pellet transforms into a gigantic, yeti-like monstrosity capable of smashing down walls and immobilizing zombies with earth-shaking roars.
